The dugong is a marine mammal. It's the manatee's cousin, that can be distinguished by its rounded tail VS the dugong 's tail which looks like the dolphin's tail.
The dugong is usually found in seagrass beds, sandy bottoms or mangroves, near-shore with a shallow depth (less than 133 foot).
It's the only herbivorous marine mammal!
Like other mammals, it must come to the surface to breathe. His apneas last 1 to 4 minutes, sometimes 8 minutes. Its activities are mainly related to the tides.
Some sharks can stay motionless on the sand (white tips reef sharks, nurse sharks, etc.).
These sharks don't have to swim to bring oxygen to their gills like other sharks (grey, hammerheads tc.)
We can hear the bull shark is very dangerous because of attacks near La Réunion island.
However, tens of them are living at 600 feet from the famous beach of Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. And there are no attacks.
The whale shark is the largest fish in the world!
Some whales are larger, but they are mammals, not fish!
